We are a welcoming, forward-thinking and caring Church family who seek in many ways to meet our mission statement of being a place for everyone to come together and allow Jesus and the Holy Spirit to make a lasting difference in our lives, community and church.

We are located 5 miles north of the city centre, in a large residential area. Our church building is 48 years old; we work hard to keep it in good repair and well presented.

We are blessed with a large car park and grassed areas around which are well used.

The sanctuary can seat 120 people comfortably and we can extend into a large hall which enables us to accommodate 200 if required.

The 60+ members and the adherents are supported and nurtured by an active Pastoral team who keep regular contact with our older members who are not always able to attend worship. We are shortly planning to re-establish our Prayer Ministry team.

Plans and ideas on all types of worship are shared within an open Worship Forum. Currently we enjoy services that follow a ‘traditional’ style, we have Messy Church, Café Worship as well Praise Services led by our three Worship Leaders and congregation members. There is also a mid-week communion service once a month. During the year we welcome our uniformed groups with their families at Parade services.

Within our membership we are blessed to have at least six Local Preachers, whose input is most valuable. On Sunday mornings our young people are encouraged with their age-appropriate ‘Sunday Club’ sessions and they join the congregation at other times.

Through the week there are at least nine church groups meeting, ranging from bible study and fellowship groups to a monthly Film Night (currently showing ‘The Chosen’ which stimulates lively discussion over a cuppa afterwards). These meetings see attendees from our own Church family as well as people from other churches and the local community. Young people are welcomed through a mums and tots group, a Church run Pre-school which is highly regarded in the area, a Boys’ Brigade company that has just celebrated its 50th birthday and we have close links with our three Guiding Units.

Over recent years we have reached out into our local community more and there is a well-established and well attended “Well-being” coffee morning once a fortnight and a “Community Hub” open one day a week through the cold months and fortnightly through the summer. The sense of friendship and ‘belonging’ at both these groups is amazing.

In addition to all these Church groups, our building is also hired out to regular “Fitness” groups, Slimming World, Exercise and Pilates classes. Several art groups, a community choir and GamblersAnonymous to name a few.

Naturally fees raised through these lettings is a valuable source of income to the church. If you would like to have a discussion about hiring for a one off or regular booking please see our website.

Brookside has a magnificent grand piano which is accepted as one of the best in the city, consequently several examination boards hold their exams in our sanctuary. We also have a wonderful pipe organ built by our own organist.

Finally, we also seek to look to the needs of our wider world. Each month the proceeds from after worship coffee is donated to a charity, a team of bakers from the   Church family provide 100   individually wrapped portions of cake for the homeless, in conjunction with the local soup kitchen. We annually support Christian Aid,   Operation Christmas Child, Christmas chocolates for inmates   at   the local prison and others.

Recognising that communication is key, the monthly online Newsletter and weekly Notice sheet have a wide mailing list.
